Travel tips for AMT travellers
- Keep a copy of your PDS: Always have a digital copy of your travel insurance policy on your phone for easy access during your trips.
- Know your limits: Check your AMT policy to ensure it covers the length of each trip and any specific activities you may plan on doing.

FAQs for Annual Multi Trip travellers
Sorry we don’t offer cover under the Annual Multi Trip plan when you’re between trips, other than any benefits you may be entitled to under the Cancellation or holiday deferment costs and events 1 to 5 under COVID-19 travel costs.
The AMT plan cannot be purchased more than 6 months prior to the nominated commencement date.
When taking out an AMT plan you will have the option of selecting a region based on the country(ies) you will be travelling to, these options are:
- Worldwide: or
- Worldwide excluding USA and Nepal.
It’s not possible to add other countries or regions to your policy after you buy it. However, we recommend contacting us to check if you might be covered for other countries in the same region
You may be covered under the AMT plan if you have to cancel or rearrange your trip because of one of the 14 insured reasons listed under the Cancellation and additional expenses section. We will pay either:
- the non-refundable portion of your pre-paid travel arrangements and cancellation fees charged by your travel agent; or
- the cost to rearrange your trip, provided that the cost is not greater than the amount that would have been incurred had you cancelled the trip, for anyone listed on your Certificate of Insurance.
When you take out an AMT plan the policy will end 12 months from your nominated departure date on your Certificate of Insurance. Please note this is not a renewable contract.
If you realize that your AMT plan is ending while you are still travelling you should apply for a new policy by contacting us to obtain a new Policy Disclosure Statement (PDS). If you wish to apply, complete a new application and, if required, contact us to complete a medical screening assessment.
With nib’s AMT plan’s the maximum duration of any one trip is 45 days. For any trips longer than this duration please refer to the section headed Extending your policy and contact us if you’re unsure about you’re level of cover.
